Questions

Questions about monitored pest control

Short answers. Ask us for more.

How much does monitoring cost?

It depends on how many units or rooms, how many monitors the building needs and how often we read them. We give you the number in writing after the walk-through. The cost page lists what moves it.

What do the monitors actually do?

They catch, count or log. Sticky cards hold crawling insects, stations show whether rodents visited and loggers record damp and warmth. They don't send anyone an alert in the night: we read them on our visits and put the counts in your report.

What about kids and pets?

Licensed applicators follow the product label, and we place monitors and stations where children and pets can't reach them or in locked housings. We tell you where and when to keep pets away, and the service report lists every product used. Ask for it any time.

Do you use organic products?

Where an OMRI-listed product will do the job, we can use it. Some jobs need something else, and we say so before we start. We never use the word organic about a visit as a whole.

How long until the counts change?

Most sites see a change within a few weeks, but it varies with the pest, the building and whether the cause, like a leak or a gap, gets fixed.

What if the pests come back?

If the same pest shows up on the same monitors within 30 days of a treatment, we return at no charge. The callback covers the treated area and the pest we treated. It doesn't apply where a building problem we reported, like a leak or an open gap, hasn't been fixed.

Do I need to be home?

For a condo unit, we give written notice and enter only when you or the board's process allows. In a restaurant, we agree a time before or after service. Our prep note comes with your first report.

What don't you do?

We don't treat bed bugs, remove wildlife or fumigate for termites. If a reading points to one of those, we tell you and suggest you call a specialist.

Where do you work, and when can you come?

Oakland and nearby parts of Alameda and Contra Costa counties. Our hours are Monday to Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Early restaurant visits are by arrangement.
